The points-based mode is the most underused and the most useful — most students don't realize how precisely they can steer a points-based grade.

Points-based grading, decoded
In a points class, every item is worth raw points and your grade is simply earned ÷ possible. The lever: future points. If you have 412/500 and 300 points remain, you control where you land — every 30 points you capture moves your final grade by 3.75%. The calculator converts your target percentage into the exact points you still need.
Finding your current grade before the term ends
Use Categories & weights with only the graded categories filled in — ungraded ones are excluded and the remaining weights renormalize, showing the grade your teacher would call "so far."

How do I calculate my grade with different weights?
Multiply each category's score by its weight and add them up. Or just enter them in the Categories & weights tab above and skip the arithmetic — including partial gradebooks with categories not yet graded.
How do I calculate my grade if scores are in points?
Add up points earned and points possible, divide, ×100. That's your current percentage. The Points-based class tab does this and also tells you how many of the remaining points you need for your target grade.
What's my grade if the teacher drops the lowest score?
Enter all your scores in the Drop lowest scores tab with how many get dropped. Your average is recomputed over the kept scores only.
Why does my calculated grade differ from the portal?
Usually one of three reasons: ungraded items your portal counts as zero, weighting differences (e.g. the portal weights by points-per-category), or rounding. Check with empty vs filled categories above to find the mismatch.
